Good morning. This morning I saved my notes, quotes, and new terms from the first chapter of Practical Approach to Electroencephalography by Mark H. Libenson.
I use a custom app that works as a private source-base. I define a "source-base" as a collection of quotes from a variety of source types (books, podcasts, articles, etc). For each source I can save the text, the page / location I found the source in, and leave comments.
As I was reading the first chapter, though, I thought it would be very helpful to add an optional date field for each citation. This date field would represent the date of the event described in the citation.
For example, let's say the citation is "Hans Berger recorded the first EEG of man in 1929." I would set "1929" as the date.
This allows me to display my citations in a timeline. Only citations with a date will be displayed.
This was really fun to add because now, I have a "Timeline" tab that groups all citations from all sources in a single timeline. It will allow me to build a historical timeline of any events I'm interested in.
I also listened to an episode of YC's "How to Build the Future" podcast. Where they interview Peter Xu, the co-founder and CEO of Doordash.
I enjoyed learning about the early days of Doordash, how he started the company with some college friends, and how his experience delivering food for years gave him an invaluable perspective and appreciation for the people using Doordash.
What I also really liked about the podcast was how he explained his reason for joining YC. His reason? YC was an accountability system. If they joined YC they would be forced to move fast and build something.
